The Need

Nya Ricks was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML is cancer of the bone marrow. She has endured intense radiation therapy and several courses of chemo to attack the AML. Nya exudes extraordinary charisma for a girl her age. Since her diagnosis, her family works each day to maintain their footing and support Nya in her fight against AML. Nya's mom Lindsay, a school teacher at the Stanley G. Falk School for over a decade, and her father, Moe, a commercial painter, were forced to take prolonged leaves of absence and have only recently returned to work. Though she's now in remission, we want to do what we can to help the Ricks family cope with all the medical costs that have piled up over the past year.

Contributing Artist

Scott Flick has taken social media by storm over the past few years. We'll let him introduce himself...

"My name is Scott Flick and I love to draw. Always have. I live (born & raised) in Buffalo, New York. I am a single father of 2 wonderful children. I love the Lord, my family, my friends, my pencils (LOL), and most of all, my 8 year old prince and my 6 year old princess.

"As a kid, my mom would hand-make gifts for those she loved in lieu of purchasing them. I used to think it was because my parents were cheapskates. I later learned that it was more about the heart and less about money. She used to tell me that the wonderful thing about making a gift for someone was that for the duration of the time she spent on their gift, her mind and heart were always thinking of them. I get it now!"
